Las Cavernas Camuy

25 minutes from Hacienda El Jibarito

The park El Rio de Camuy is one of the first natural wonders in Puerto Rico. The park is 268 acres of subtarenian caves created by the river Camuy.The system of caverns is cathedral like caverns that hold many species of life. The caves were once dwelling places for local tribes and they left drawings on walls that date 500 years old. The system of caves has 16 entranses and 11 kilometers of caves that you can explore. The government controls the caves but they are open to the public. You will find stalactites stalagmites wich make the cave one of the best natural formations in Puerto Rico.
